by David Lyndon Huff Our world is full of sound. Every day we feel the rhythms of both nature and industry. The earth pulses with volcanic turmoil from within the electro-magnetic waves bombard us from the cosmos. Throughout the ages, humankind has created musical instruments to mimic the natural sounds around us -- wooden flutes like the wind, drum machines similar to industrial manufacturing, a bass throbbing like a heartbeat. Now there is an album capturing a wide spectrum of our planet's sounds. It's Worldbeat by David Lyndon Huff on the Green Hill Productions label. Huff -- who also has had a distinguished musical career playing with his own groups (Giant, Rhythm of Creation) as well as with Shania Twain, Faith Hill, Amy Grant, Boz Scaggs, Michael W. Smith, Kenny Loggins, Jody Watley, Eddie Money and others -- explains the Worldbeat project as "similar to an impressionistic painting by Monet or Picasso". The sounds hint at places and cultures without being absolutely defined by any particular people or country. "They say we are all becoming 'citizens of the world' and that we are now a world community, " states Huff. "With that in mind, I created Worldbeat for the new global audience, which means the guy next door and a woman halfwayaround the world, who might both be visiting the same website at the same time while listening to this music. In today's world, they're neighbor's.
