AO

AO pronounced as two syllables,( long a, long o) is the ancient Polynesian word for Light, and AO's music serves as an illuminating source of imagination and playful expression. "We want each listener to walk away from this music with a deeper sense of dimensional freedom," says AO's Ricky Gannaway (whose stage name is Nahoo). "We'd like the listener to be loosened from any imposed restrictions of what is possible and feel invited to entertain a new story. Children invent their own worlds around them everyday, and AO will always present a very colorful palete that encourages that sort of playful imagination."

According to the musical duo AO, the evolution of the world requires new music that pulls sounds and words from many places, cultures and peoples. On their debut album, Grow Wild, AO creates global music that resonates with a natural musical geometry, giving their sound a primal, timeless instinctive universiality.

The members of AO bring strong musicianship and musicality to the recording. Both have been composing, performing and recording professionally since they were teenagers. To date they have worked with Sheryl Crow, The Eagles, Jimmy Buffet, Dave Weck;, Maynard Ferguson, Tiger & The Helix, and the bluegrass band Homegrown.

Jay Oliver (stage-name Jojo) adds, "The first step is to get people to engage their hearts again. Art needs to promote positive thinking and energy. We're at a stage in history when the world is changing more rapidly than ever before. We're becoming one people, one culture, tied together financially, with instantaneous internet communications, sharing news and art, and questioning the old ways. We want our music and message to help prepare people for the changes, to let them know it's okay to embrace change."
