Q & A with Paulina Howfield

Thank you for your response to this column of the magazine, your questions for help in creating sacred space are arriving daily. Here are some solutions to the questions you asked:

Dear Paulina,

Since moving to Sedona two years ago, I seem unable to earn decent money and my once secure finances have seemingly drained away. A recent visitor to my house told me I should keep my bathroom door closed and put a mirror on it, as it is in the wealth area of the Bagua of my house. Was this right and is there anything else I can do?

S.P., Sedona

Dear S.P.

If your bathroom is in your wealth area this is definitely a good suggestion, as the closed door will block energy and the mirror will deflect the energy from draining away in your bathroom. You can also keep the lid of your toilet system down when not in use, so that your money is not being washed away with every flush. If you place a bowl of unpopped corn on the cistern this will help keep energy going up rather than down and into the drain. If possible hang a round or arched mirror with gold edging and in your case introduce red and green - whether as ornaments, soaps or towels to balance the abundance of water energies.

Dear Paulina,

I live in West Sedona in a small one bedroom transportable. My health has suffered recently and I wonder if there is anything l can do in my house to improve this. Ms.M, West Sedona

Dear M,

According to the Bagua, in your home the health area of your house is in your kitchen. So firstly I would suggest you remove any clutter from that area and make sure it is clean. Secondly look at your diet, what arc you eating and drinking that may not be creating a healthy body and mind Thirdly I suggest you paint your kitchen to make it more vibrant and nurturing to encourage you to be in it and cook in it. Warm apricots, yellows and peaches work well in a kitchen. Bring in a symbol of Hathor - Egyptian cow goddess of nurturing and sustenance - and either a small pump activated waterfall or wind chime to keep the energy moving.
